More of an upmarket restaurant than a pub, following the Chef & Brewer format. However, casual drinkers are still welcome to enjoy the pub and the beer garden which enjoys views over Chislehurst Common and the village church. There was an inn on the site as far back as the 15th century, but the current building is far more recent.
Cask ales are now solely from Greene King.
Inside, all tables are reserved for dining with table service for drinks.
Historic Interest
Current building dates from the 18th C but stands on the site of an older inn dating back to the 15th C, on land once owned by the Walsingham family (their emblem being a tiger's head). Once popular for festivities and royal coronation celebrations as well as cockfighting, which took place nearby in the Cockpit on the green until this was abolished in 1834, followed by stick fighting until this was abolished in 1862 along with the annual Whitsun Fair.
This Pub serves 1 changing beer and 2 regular beers.
